On May 2 the International Living Future Institute honored SRG Principal Lisa Petterson, AIA, with a Hero Award for her many contributions to the Living Building Challenge movement. Recognized in Seattle at the 13th Living Future unConference, Petterson has devoted her 30-year career to raising standards in the green building industry and is respected for her leadership and innovation in sustainable lighting design, biophilia, and healthy environments.
When asked about what others can do to support the sustainability movement, Lisa encourages collaborative, widespread change: “It’s up to all of us to create a Living Future. This means championing the newer facets of the Living Building Challenge, like Equity and Biophilic Design, while keeping true to the original program tenets of healthy materials, net positive energy and water. The power of the Living Building Challenge is its ability to pursue a comprehensive future in which we work together, not in isolation, to solve the pressing issues of our time.”
