University of Puget Sound
Harned Hall / Science Center
SRG designed an expansion of the 122,000 sf Thompson Hall to create a showcase for the sciences on campus. The project, designed to LEED Silver criteria, involves renovation of the existing building as well as a 51,000 sf addition, Harned Hall. The facility provides the latest in labs, classrooms and meeting spaces for the University’s science departments, and encourages interdisciplinary interaction. The central courtyard features a wirelessly connected espresso bar in the “gazebo,” a glazed element expressive of crystalline structure. A “science on display” theme uniquely integrates basic scientific ideas into the architecture.
