SRG designed a new Health and Wellness Facility for Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, currently under construction. The new building will house allied health programs including a Nursing, EMT, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Care and Therapeutic Exercise Rehabilitation. The design challenge is to create a welcoming architecture near the front edge of campus while still integrating the facility into campus life. Another goal is to create a “healthy building” that is passively ventilated and cooled. A two story “lung,” nestled between the labs and their support spaces, brings daylight and fresh air into the heart of the facility. The project is targeting LEED Silver certification.
