Oregon Institute of Technology

Center for Health Professions

The new phase one Center for Health Professions includes 40,000 sf of classrooms, offices, labs and clinical spaces consolidated into a single location. The program includes health sciences, respiratory therapy, medical image technology, nursing, clinical laboratory science and emergency medical technology. Targeting LEED Silver, the building is heated completely by a geothermal water system, features naturally ventilated faculty offices, and makes provisions for future photovoltaics. Challenged to create an open, inviting building when windows and natural light were not desirable in labs and classrooms, SRG implemented narrow windows with blackout shades in these areas. A central “spine” brings natural light into the heart of the building.
