SRG completed the master planning and the design for this two-story addition to the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The leading-edge cancer research facility, whose design employed a design/build procurement process, has a strong lab focus and unique clinical oncology outpatient research. Clinical functions are connected to the main hospital by a pedestrian bridge; the labs are flexible to respond to changing research requirements; floor layouts are organized around interior concrete shear walls extended up from the existing parking structure below; and each lab features natural light and exterior views.
