SRG developed the master plan and design for this research center, which serves as the nucleus for Genentech’s international biotechnical research program and is now the largest biotechnology research facility of its kind in the world, serving more than 700 researchers and staff. Located on a 100-acre campus overlooking the San Francisco Bay, the six-building complex was built in two phases (three buildings in phase 1 and three in phase 2). The design accommodates a wide diversity of research capabilities and technical core facilities, as well as meeting and assembly spaces.
