This pilot project features technology-rich learning environments that support flexibility, synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, course capture, and peer-to-peer collaboration. It is intended to be an opportunity to implement emerging ideas for hands-on, engaged learning, allowing wider faculty participation and experimentation with active learning strategies.
The new Pilot Classroom creates an integrated, collaborative learning environment across health and related professions that connects disciplines, promotes teamwork, fosters mutual understanding, strengthens research, and advances health for individuals and populations.
The classroom expands beyond its immediate boundaries into small study rooms that can be accessed from the classroom or adjacent lounge. The main entry is transparent so students using the expanded lounge area can see the innovative nature of this classroom. After hours, the room is open to students for individual study or group work.
Recently completed, the renovation of the decommissioned kitchen space breathes new life into the South Campus Center. Innovative reuse of an abandoned mechanical unit in the basement makes effective use of existing amenities.
